Task 1: The School and Learning Environment

Class: 4to Medio
1. The school:The Panamerican College is located in #42 Los Pinos street, Viña del Mar. Its web page is www.panamericancollege.cl, the telephone number is 2670275. The organization is formed by the owner of the school, the headmaster, and inspectors, UTP, parents and finally the students. The Panamerican College has a population of 440 students. Its philosophy is based on leadership, honesty and responsibility. Its education is based on effectiveness and effective learning.
2. The classroom: There are 8 students in my class; they have a very high level of engagement in the room. Actually, the teacher does not use it. They have an active participation during the class. There is no need to use the whiteboard; the class is based on conversation. They sit around the teacher with their materials (book and pencil), they have listening and then they have conversations about it.They have a very small classroom with a big whiteboard, there is not too much natural light, and actually it is very dark.
3. The activities & resourcesa: a) In general they use the book, and the class is focused in conversation tasks, such as giving opinions or debate. The teacher uses listening and readings for the class. The use of technology is not very common.b) There are many resources in the school, such as data show, internet, computer lab, TV, DVD, dictionaries, books and magazines. But any of them is used in the classroom.
Task 2: Student´s learningIn this second observation task, you should focus on the things that help to create conditions for effective learning and on the aspects that play a part in preventing learning.
1. The learners: The students are strongly motivated, they like very much the language, they do any activity in class, and they are always asking and looking for new words. They love doing activities related to music, acting, debating, etc. They like conversation tasks, because is very attractive for them giving their point of view of things.
2. Behaviour during classroom activities: It’s really amazing the level of English they have. Actually there is no particular strategy to work with them. They are very particular students, because they love English, it does not matter if the activity is boring, they do it anyway. Some of them have problem with the assistance.
3. Discuss the learning styles and levels of English in the classroom.
